TECH TIP #3

| WHITE LETTERING ON TIRES
|
| by Jim Sorensen |
| ......Now I know most model car builders will laugh,
and say "who in the cat hair doesn't know how to do that" (cat hair optional!) But for the sake
of the beginning model builder and the occasional ole timer who's been overheard saying "hmmm,
wonder how he did that.." I'll explain. |
| Safety note: Proper ventilation and respiratory protection should be used during any spraying operation. |
| 1...What is needed first is a flat smooth surface.
I use a small piece of glass. The edges heve been beveled and polished for safety. The glass
is easy to clean with a razor blade. |
| 2...Using an airbrush or spary can, spray a light wet coat of flat white on the surface. Flat white will cover better and dries faster than gloss white. |
| 3...Carefully place the tire onto the painted surface, making sure the correct side is down. |
| 4...Immediately remove the tire, being careful not to tilt it. |
| 5...Repeat this process until you get the look you want. |
| For a custom look, I have use other colors like red, yellow and blue. Good luck and have fun... |
