NORTHERN UTAH SCALE MODELERS ASSOCIATION CONSTITUTION

----Preamble...
The Northern Utah Scale Modelers Association is dedicated to the promotion of quality scale modeling. We also seek to acquaint the general public with our hobby, and do so by the promotion of contests and by participating in displays and other activities that may be related. While we are a scale modelers association where all types and mediums of the hobby are welcome, the main emphasis of this association will be aircraft oriented.

----ARTICLE ONE: OFFICERS...
1.1----The Northern Utah Scale Modelers Association shall have a President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, and a Contest Committee. At the discretion of the President, more than one Vice-President may be chosen or elected. The term of these offices shall be for one year. January through January, with elections held during the December meeting. A majority popular vote of the members shall be necessary for election. Only those who dues are paid current shall be allowed to vote.
1.2----The duties of the President, shall be to plan and coordinate the various association activities and to plan, organize and conduct the regular monthly meetings.
1.3----The duties of the Vice-President or Vice-Presidents, shall be to assist the President as required to conduct the associations activities in the absence of the President.
1.4----The duties of the Secretary/Treasurer shall be to collect dues, entry fees and other funds and to disburse the funds as deemed necessary by the Presidency. This position also has the responsibility of distributing the newsletters, keeping the membership cards, acquiring kits and conductiong auctions, contest entries and all financial transactions of the association.
1.5----The duties of the Contest Committee shall be to oversee the various competitive activities of the association, which shall include recommending rules or rule changing, setting up, topics for mini-contests, class dterminations and anything else related thereto.
1.6----The President and Vice-President(s) shall confer about all association activities, no less than once a month.

----ARTICLE TWO: MEETINGS AND DEMONSTRATIONS...
2.1----There shall be one regular NUSMA meeting per month; the date, time and place shall be determined by the Presidency and the association members. The information about the meeting shall be made available at the meetings and to the general public. Whenever possible, these meetings shall have a demonstration designed to improve modeling skills and shall be conducted by members or guest.
2.2----The meetings may be attended by anyone, but any matters of association business that requires a vote shall be the privilege of dues-paid members only.

----ARTICLE THREE: ASSOCIATION DUES...
3.1----There shall be an amount paid into the association treasury as dues. These dues cover the costs of the building or newsletters, the costs of advertising or awards at the contest, or any other such costs as the Association Presdincy shall deem in the best interest of the association. The membership shall be consulted for ratification of those decisions whenever possible.
3.2----The benefits for paying dues are as follows:
-----------1. Membership in the NUSMA.
-----------2. Discounts at local hobby shops.
-----------3. Voting during elections and decisions effecting association business.
-----------4. Financing annual contests.

----ARTICLE FOUR: ELECTIONS...
4.1----The elections shall proceed as follows:
-----------1. The outgoing Secretary/Treasurer shall call for nominations for-------------------------President.
-----------2. The nominations shall be voted on by secret ballot.
-----------3. Only those dues paid members are eligible to vote.
-----------4. The Secretary/Treasurer will then count the votes and announce the---------------- results.
-----------5. The new President may, at his/her discretion, chose those with-------------------------whom he will serve or have them be elected. This choosing may be------------------done prior to elections and those chosen may be voted on at once.
-----------6. At a mutually agreed time prior to the meeting in January, all ----------------------------association property will be turned over to the new presidency so --------------------they can function without interruption the following year.
-----------7. The Contest Committee may be appointed or elected, as determined -----------------by the new presidency.
-----------8. The term of office shall be for one year, with no limits to the amount -----------------of re-elections.

----ARTICLE FIVE: DISMISSAL OF MEMBERS...
5.1----The Presidency of the NUSMA shall retain the right to deny membership or to revoke membership for reasons felt to be detrimental to the best interests of NUSMA. In cases of membership revocation, any unused portion of the membership dues will be refunded in the appropriatet pro-rata amount. It will not be necessary to notify the general membership of the association, but the member in question shall be notified by any means the Presidency deems appropriate.

----ARTICLE SIX: CONTEST REQUIREMENTS...
6.1----The rules and categories for the various contests held by the association are available on line at our website (www.nusma.org) or in booklet form, and may be made available as needed.
6.2----The Annual Contest will be held as set forth by the current Presidency, with affirmation from the dues paid members. It is presently held the fourth weekend in September.

----ARTICLE SEVEN: RECOGNITION OF PAST OFFICERS...
7.1----Officers serving in the previous year shall be formally recognized by the currently serving officers. Some form of award, as deemed appropriate by the current presidency, will be presented. This award shall be funded from the assets of NUSMA.
